Microfinance is the delivery of very small loans and the provision of savings services to those who lack access to credit and savings through typical sources (banks) due to the perceptions that surround poverty. Loan sizes vary, however it is common to find loans less than $100 repaid in less than 6 months. Savings deposits often are a fraction of a US$1.00.
